A mantilla veil is the most traditional silhouette in bridal veils, cut in a soft circular shape and trimmed with lace along its entire edge, worn flat against the head rather than gathered at a comb. Rooted in Spanish and French Catholic wedding tradition, it drapes gently over the hair and shoulders, framing the face with a continuous line of lace rather than layers of tulle.
Our mantilla veils are hand-finished in our Paris studio and trimmed with fine Calais and Caudry lace, the same laces historically used in French haute couture. Each veil is cut so the lace border stays visible from every angle, whether worn for a traditional church ceremony or a civil wedding with a more contemporary dress.
Choosing your mantilla length
Shoulder or fingertip length gives light coverage, ideal for outdoor or intimate ceremonies. Chapel length falls to the floor and pairs well with fitted or A-line gowns. Cathedral length extends past the train, for grand church aisles and dramatic portraits.
Styling a mantilla veil
Traditionally the comb sits forward, at the hairline, in the Spanish style; many brides today prefer it slightly further back, over a low bun or chignon, so the lace frames the face without competing with the hairstyle. Because the lace border already makes a statement, we recommend keeping jewelry minimal.
